Artist Bio.

Heather Blossom Brown

It’s simply that I love looking at art and love making art. But also…

In my art, I employ strong lines and bold colors.  My work has been described as Fauvist and Symbolic. Each piece is a strong emotional expression reflecting beauty, showing solitude, thought, and often my daydreams.

I am a self-taught artist, which I consider a curse at times, and a blessing at others.  My approach is to remain as organic as possible, solely devoted to whatever inspirations come to mind.  For me, art is therapeutic. It keeps me grounded and allows me time to think while exploring an avenue in which to express myself.

I spend a lot of time researching artists from the past to the present. My favorite artists include Van Gogh, William Morris, Hans Holbein the Younger, Gustav Klimt, Howard Pyle, Alphonse Mucha, and Aubrey Beardsley.  Stylistically, my inspiration comes from ancient Egyptian and Greek murals, Medieval paintings, and the Golden Age illustrators, while employing the color palette of Van Gogh. Ideologically, I fall in line with the Aesthetic and Arts and Crafts Movement of the latter end of the 19th century.
